Travelling to Europe this summer?June 3rd, 2017
If your travelling in Europe this Summer, there are new roaming regulations & tariff changes are in the air for O2 customers…
From Thursday 15 June new EU Roaming regulations come into effect meaning changes to O2 customers’ roaming options. Alongside this O2 are also updating some of the existing tariffs to give customers even more choice (more details to follow).
From 15 June O2 customers will be able to use their UK minutes, texts, and data in the O2 Europe Zone (subject to a data fair use policy). This means many customers will no longer see roaming charges on their bill – enabling you to work flexibly without worrying about additional charges!
The new regulations will be rolled out across existing Business plans. The only exception being bespoke tariffs.
Why is it good for customers?
Customers who need to do business on the go in our Europe Zone will be able to work flexibly while benefiting from reduced Roaming charges in O2 Europe Zone. You will no longer need to pay the £1.66 a day for O2 Travel if you’re in Europe Zone.
Your O2 Tariff will automatically be updated to include roaming in the Europe Zone from Thursday 15 June. You should also expect to see that some bolt-ons or services that were previously on the account removed e.g. O2 Travel.
From 15th May through to the go live date, 15 June, O2 customers will receive various communication about the new service.
Note: Data Bolt-Ons/Out of bundle: data bolt-ons or top ups are still useable in the UK and EU
Bespoke tariffs (where a tariff has been built or tailored for business customers) these customers will continue to pay for European roaming as per their current contract. O2 will release further details over the coming weeks.
Unlimited Calls & Texts: No fair usage policy applies, however O2 do reserve the right to take action for excessive usage.
Here is a reminder of the countries covered in O2 Europe Zone:
|Austria||French Guiana||Latvia||Reunion Islands|
|Canary Islands||Guadeloupe||Madeira||San Marino|
|Estonia||Isle of Man||Norway||Switzerland|
If you are travelling in the rest of the world, calls outside the EU will not come out of your UK allowance and will be charged at standard rates depending on country, or it may be worthwhile adding a bolt-on – check with us before you travel!
