Industry: Manufacturer/Distribution

The Client; PMS International Group sources and supplies affordable products from around the world at a price and quality the market demands, and delivers them to the marketplace with speed and efficiency.

A thirty four year journey to achieve this aim has led the company to a nine acre site just ten minutes from the London orbital M25 motorway, a staff of 280, nearly half a million square feet of warehousing and office space and stands at more than 50 trade shows and exhibitions world wide. The company has a further showroom in Manchester and has opened offices in Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai and in New York.

PMS International now has 8,000 lines on hand, including toys, gifts, novelties, Christmas products, house-wares, hardware, tools, garden products, beach goods and more

The requirements:  The company has always operated its own delivery fleet and takes considerable pride in its ability to deliver the majority of orders direct from warehouse to customer. This method is faster and more responsive, and goods are loaded only once, unlike systems operated by national carriers which tend to use a “hub”. A new system was required to monitor the fleet of 32 vehicles to achieve this aim.

The Solution: With ADSI’s pro-active account management expertise with the introduction of Navman’s tracking service, the company is now running its fleet of vehicles more efficiently and saving money at the same time. Initially, the solution was forecasted to have paid for itself within eight months. But the added level of control provided by the new system means that Neil Beverley, Director of PMS International, is confident they will see a return on their investment in less than that timeframe. “Being able to run our in-house software in conjunction with Navman’s tracking service saves us a lot of admin time and ensures that all the vans are used efficiently,” he explains.

In fact, Neil Beverley estimates that the combined solution will have saved the business up to £200,000 by the end of the year.
