O2 WiFi and 4G Calling

O2 WiFi and 4G Calling is now available to O2 customers regardless of where they purchased device, i.e. from a non-O2 sourced stock.

Currently it’s only available on the Samsung S8 or S8+. but O2 are looking to roll out on other devices in the near future.  As soon as we have any more news we’ll let you know.

These customers will be able to use WiFi and 4G Calling once you update to the latest software version and add the WiFi and 4G Calling service code.

So,  customers who have an S8/S8+ device that is running the Open Market firmware variant, for example a device bought from Samsung directly, can now user O2’s WiFi and 4G Calling service.

Please be aware that this does not include devices running the firmware version of a different operator, for example a device bought directly from Vodafone or EE.

Wifi and 4G Calling allows customers with suitable handsets, who have network issues to be able to make voice calls using WiFi or an O2 4G Calling connection:

Wifi Calling uses any available WiFi connection to support calls eg. O2 Wifi or home broadband.

4G Calling means customers can make calls using the handset’s 4G bearer (today, voice calls drop back to 3G in 4G coverage)

Reminder: If you are a customer that uses any of the services below, you will need to make a decision on whether to carry on or switch to Wifi and 4G Calling:O2 WiFi 4G Calling

Here’s how you can get Wifi and 4G Calling set up on Samsung S8 or S8+ :

· Add Wifi and 4G calling to the account – contact your Account Manager if you need help.

· Make sure Wifi and 4G Calling is switched on in the device settings (you may need to turn their device off, and then back on again to make the settings magically appear!)

To switch on 4G Calling, go to Settings > More > Mobile networks > 4G Calling. Set this to On.

To switch on Wifi Calling, go to Settings > More > Wifi Calling. Make sure Wifi Calling is set to On.
