We are off to The Great Wall of ChinaAugust 21st, 2019
Last September saw myself, Adrian and Stuart trek up Kilimanjaro (I say trek, I actually mean climb!). Whilst it was a truly amazing experience, a once in a lifetime, tick off the bucket list experience, I promised myself I would never do anything physically that difficult again.
I honestly loved every minute, our trek group were fantastic, our tour/trek leader was superb and I can’t stress enough how brilliant the climbers, helpers and people on Kilimanjaro were.
Anyway, back to my subject line… An email popped in my inbox this May from a colleague, Clare, she wrote 3 words; What ya saying?
She had forwarded a link to the Dream Challenges web page for Great Wall of China Trek 2020. That was it, hook line and sinker, just one glance and I’m sucked in to this wonderful opportunity.
I love travelling, exploring and doing something off the normal tick list. To me, to go to China is the biggest pull, the fact that I have to trek miles is minor – surely after Kilimanjaro this is going to be a walk in the park?
I shared the email with Rhianne sitting next to me, she’s also an keen traveler and is interested. My next move was to forward it to Adrian, who I know was looking for his next challenge; he bites within the hour and we have a team…. five ADSI staff so far – Adrian, Jon, Clare, Rhianne and myself Sue and we will be raising money for our chosen charity again.
We are hoping to be off in September 2020 but in view of the recent Virus outbreak we may not be going until 2021 – so watch this space!
